Update: Meals on Wheels

by

mow_logo_small.jpgWhile the Meals on Wheels may not have been found yet, Kansas City has come to the rescue. I am proud to say I live in/around Kansas City. After many read an article in the Kansas City Paper about two thieves that stole a Meals On Wheels van, after injuring the 60 year old driver, they sent in donations and gifts.

The Don Bosco Senior Center has been floored by the genorousity of the citizens of Kansas City. On the 5th Don Bosco had already received $600 and this was before the afternoon. Chris Stigall of KCMO-710 AM, a morning talk show, had raised $4000 for the Center. It is even being stated that the Kansas City Transportation Group will be issuing them a van.

If you have any information on this crime or spot the vehicle please call Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. You can also visit Don’s website at www.donbosco.org. The vehicle is a 1995 white chevrolet van, license plate 918-GS7 Missouri plates. For those that may see it please call: Debra Skodack at 816-234-4738

For those that may not know, Meals on Wheels feeds over 400 individuals a fresh, hot meal every day. Without a van it only makes it harder for Don to deliver all those meals. Don Bosco Senior Center is a nonprofit group that did not have much insurance, so it won’t be getting reimbursed for the stolen vehicle. The two men that robbed him, did this at gunpoint, tossing the man on the street before driving away.
