Meals on Wheels Carjacked

by

mow_logo_small.jpgYesterday, a Don Bosco Center vehicle was stolen at gun point. When the driver stopped at a red light at Lexington and Brooklyn Ave two men came up to him, one pointing a gun in his face ordering him out of the vehicle. Once out, they took off heading down Brooklyn, meals and all. The driver was only half way through his deliveries, for those that don’t know it is a Meals on Wheels Service, so not only did these two thieves steal a vehicle but they stole food from many elderly people that waited for it.

The driver, a 60 year old man, was taken to the hospital for scrapes and bruises but seems to be doing fine.

The vehicle is a 1995 white chevrolet van, license plate 918-GS7 Missouri plates. For those that may see it please call: Debra Skodack at 816-234-4738

Thankfully the Center had a back up and were able to go to the rest of the route and give them a meal, however they supply over 400 people a day. A vehicle is definitely essential in this line of care and thanks to these criminals they’ll have to think of another way. Don Bosco did not have much insurance on the vehicle, in fact he only had liability insurance.

I can’t even begin to understand this one, I mean to steal a meals on wheels vehicle. What was the goal? Did they even think about what they were doing? Okay so they obviously didn’t care, I do hope it gets returned, unharmed.
