Snowing in Missouri

What happened in Kansas City this weekend? Well here’s a quick list if you didn’t pick up the paper over the weekend or the news. There were two huge events for Kansas Citians this weekend, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Kansas City was this past Sunday. Many fans of the show and of Marines tuned into the tv show on Sunday night, however there were many that attended the Legends 14 in Wyandotte County to watch the coverage. Among the guests were Danny Gilyeat and his four children (the ones that got the house), Mayor Joe Reardon, Renee Ayres the one that nominated the family, Kevin Green (builder) and many friends and family members. The Gilyeat family was not allowed to let anyone see inside their home, anyone that did come over had to promise not to say what it looked like inside. It was a very emotional show. Go MARINES!!

The other event was Jane Seymour’s book signing at Nebraska Furniture. I hear it was a huge turnout. I actually went on the wrong day, so that’s all I’ll say on that subject.

Shootings:
Teen left brain-dead After Shooting- A 17-year old was shot on Friday, however when he got to the hopsital he was brain-dead. The shooting took place around 2:50 a.m. on Friday at 4600 block in South Benton. In Grandview, Cortez L. Jones, a 29-year old man, was shot to death by his stepbrother. Reports say he threatened his mother. Police are looking into both matters. If you know of any information regarding the shootings please let them know.

Update: Teen left brain dead has passed away.

Mother dies in car wreck- A Grandview wreck over the weekend took the life of a mom, Ashley Holder. She was 21 and mother of two, the car crash was due to a patch of ice that they hit over on Hw 71 near Main St.

Possible Presidents Visit Kansas City:
Huckabee and Obama both stopped in Kansas City during their campaigning over the weekend in hopes of getting a few more votes. Huckabee actually won Kansas GOP Caucus. So what does this mean for Clinton and McCain? My guess is they need to kick things into gear, many believed that Huckabee would either stop racing or just be steamrolled by McCain, however things are starting to look up for him.

3-year old boy found in Mall- Over the weekend a 3 year old boy, that called himself “Cortez” was found walking in the mall by himself. It took over 21 hours before mom came to find him, police have no news yet on why it took mom this long or why her son was by himself in the mall. The aunt of the little boy called and let them know who the boy was, a few hours later the mom called but she was more worried of getting arrested. Police still have yet to meet the mom, the young boy will stay with CPS until his mom comes forward.

Freezing Rain hits Missouri- All of yesterday and today the Kansas City area will be hit with some freezing temperatures. Be careful out there if you have to be driving.
