Flag Thief in Roland Park
I’m sorry but this just angers me, first someone steals a Meals on Wheels vehicle and then I read about a Veteran that not only fought in wars but has now had his own flag stolen from the front of his house. Why steal a flag?
Jose A Alonzo of Roland Park wrote in to “The Kansas City Star” this week and told how he had a flag flying in front of his own house stolen. This is one of those that would be spotted no matter what. Why? He had the names of his four brothers that fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam on it. This was his way of honoring those that he loved, honoring the military and his country. But some inconsiderate person decided that they didn’t like it or were just plain cruel and took it.
Now I know when the “Meals on Wheels” story broke many people went to their aid, but this is something that can’t be replaced. This was about honor, tradition and this man’s history. The thief probably just took it and either trashed it or hid it somewhere. I feel for this man as it was something he was proud of.
Jose- If you read this, I’m sorry this has happened to you and hope that somehow your flag will be brought home and will once again fly.
