Bunny Hop in Lees Summit
Sorry I haven’t posted this earlier, I noticed that no one had ever written about the “Bunny Hop” in Lees Summit before and thought I’d give everyone a brief on what it really is.
First though, a warning to all you that drive up there, Don’t park in the parking spots in front of City Hall by the Beauty Shop. The lady out there will tell you to leave unless you are getting your hair done. We had originally parked there as I was taking the kids to the “Bunny Hop” and he was going to get his hair done and meet us. However, when she came out there telling us we had to move, without asking, (she saw the stroller and four kids) she immediately thought we were only there for one thing. This upset the hubby, enough that he decided he wouldn’t even get his hair done next door at the barber shop. Make sure to park across the street at the store, they were much friendlier about it.
Now on to the “Bunny Hop”…. my four little bunnies were eager to find out what this was all about. A friendly lady was walking around handing out maps and when she heard we were new in town gave me a magnet with all the events for Lees Summit. (let me say there are a BUNCH we’ll be doing)
Each family is given a map, once you march up the street with the Easter Bunny leading the way ya’ll get to go off and either get pictures with the bunny, judge your Easter basket or head out on the hunt. There were 32 stores participating, which helps everyone learn about the stores in downtown, especially us new folks. So for parents, you’ll discover places you’ve possibly never been or didn’t know about. If lucky you’ll be given a few discounts, coupons and freebies from merchants.
For the kids: They hop (or walk) around from one store to another with their Easter Baskets out, very much like trick-or-treating and are given a treat. Kids get to have fun and parents too.
