Children in Filth Taken Away

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

The mother of four children, one of which called 9-1-1 when the father hit her is telling the news she will do whatever it takes to get her babies back. When police took the 9-1-1 call they knew they were dealing with a man that hit his wife, but they weren’t expecting the conditions when they arrived.

Apparently upon opening the door they were slammed with odors galore, children in diapers more than a day old, poop on the floor and much worse. The house was worse than a disaster and they immediately took the children, ages 5, 4, 3 and 6 months. Firefighters changed the dirty bottoms before leaving.

The parents Wesley Bredeman and  Melanie Bredeman are being charged for child neglect. Currently mom, Melanie faces four counts, one per child.

BREAKING NEW: AMBER ALERT

An 18-month-old was stolen from his home around 4 a.m. this morning, where he currently lives with his grandmother. Now it was his mother, Kassi L. Elliot that took her son, however under certain circumstances they are extremely worried about her having him in her custody. An Amber Alert was issued almost immediately.

She apparently stopped by to visit her son and mom and when her mother walked away she quickly snatched up the child and left. They believe she is riding around in a 1998 green 2-door pontiac, she has dark hair and is 17-years-old. Police believe there were two others in the vehicle as well, a male and a female and that they were headed towards either Jefferson City or Calloway County. License plate OCG-29E and they think it is stolen.

If you see them call 9-1-1 immediately.

Description of boy:

Name: Kenyon J.Y. Brock

weight: 25lbs

hair: sandy blond with some strawberry coloring

clothing: white t-shirt with blue sleeves & blue shorts

WARNING: He does need medication for an ear infection. (poor baby)

Man Drowns in Pool

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Over the weekend, Aaron Ramirez, age 26, died when he drown in a pool at a party. The party took place in Parkville and he attended with a guest, no one noticed he was missing until the party goers had all went home and the owner noticed a car still there. The owner searched the house, yard and finally the pool. He claims it was murky and late at night but he quickly discovered Aaron when he took a pool tool and scraped it.

CPR was administered but it didn’t help. Police and paramedics believe it was all an accident and no one is to blame. No news if there will be any charges but as of right now it doesn’t sound like there will be.

Kansas City Weather

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Well so far it has been HOT all week long, yes I know it is only Tuesday but it seems more like a Thursday with the heat. We got a tiny break yesterday for a total of about 10 minutes when we got hit with a quick downpour but that was about it. After the pour the air was just sticky and humid, some are even asking if the temperatures will ever drop again. The weather got as high as 97′ in parts of Kansas City/Lees Summit yesterday, however today is suppose to begin the trend of getting cooler. I can only hope.

KCWeather is predicting it to rain (chance of) and have temperatures around 91′  I’m all for this one and hope it is right. Currently the sky blue with a bit of a cast and there is even a bit of wind in the air.

Before some of you ask, the site was down for a LONG time due to servers but it is back up.

Hero of the Week

Friday, July 18th, 2008

A Kansas City Man came to a mother and child’s rescue yesterday afternoon when a man with a gun was trying to take off in their car….with the child still inside. The mother was trying with all her might to fight the gunman off and save her 4-year-old boy who was in the backseat. This was the time when the hero stepped forward and fought the gunman off. The gun man did get away but this hero just saved a mother and her son. Thank you for letting me see that there are still people that watch out for one another.

Obama wants Faith

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Obama came down to Independence this past Monday, but it wasn’t until yesterday when he went to Ohio that he announced he wished for more “faith-based” initiatives. I must ask, when did politics become religious? Aren’t we suppose to keep church and state separate? Apparently Obama wants to spread out social funding to religious groups as well. But how does one determine which religious group money goes too? Isn’t this getting into an avenue that the state or states SHOULD NOT interfere with? I really think this is an area that all politics should stay out of since there are too many different religions, but that’s just my opinion.

Man with Felony hits 82-year-old Woman

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

An 82-year-old woman was hit on Tuesday while driving her car, which should’ve been perfectly fine. But a man with a felony on his record was trying to out-run the police and slammed into her vehicle. Thankfully his face hit the steering wheel and shattered several teeth, which of course he wanted to collect. This not only kept him on the scene but police helped search for them which ended him with another charge since they found a gun in his possession. By the way, the gun was against his probation since no one with a felony record should have. Hmm, looks like he’ll be getting some time. No clue on the condition of the woman.

University Gets $10M Donation

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

The Pittsburg State University has announced that they received a $10 million donation towards it, however it was to stay anonymous and it would be going towards the fine arts center. Talk about someone that must’ve loved their art, I’m sure the University, students, faculty and future students thank you, whoever you are. They are currently in the process of rebuilding a new center to replace the old and torn down, “Carney Hall.” Let the plays begin once again.
