Kansas City Weather Report

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Kansas City Blogger

Kansas City currently has cloudy skies and wind. For the most part it looks like it’ll pass soon, with temperatures ranging between 34-60. Before you head out for the day know that there is a chance of tornadoes, keep an ear open for the sirens and watch or listen to the news when you can.

Looking out my window:

Out the front window I see the sun shining, wind slightly blowing and scattered clouds. However, if you move to the back of the house you can see a wall of dark blue/grey clouds, a few flashes of lightening and the trees being pushed back and forth. A few branches have already come down, the house across the street has lost their gutters and some have lost a bunch of their trash. It’s a mess down here in Lees Summit today, we are currently waiting on heavy thunderstorms and strong winds. Listening on the news I hear a big rig has been pushed off the road, traffic jams (slow traffic) and hopefully it’ll be all over by 5 p.m. this afternoon. What’s it like in your neck of the woods?

Blair Found Guilty of Murder

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Earlier today, Judge John R. O’Malley announced that he found Terry Blair of Jackson County guilty of the 6 counts of 1st degree murder. It was discovered recently that Blair had been the murderer of the 6 women, two of which had been strangled.

Murdered Victime:
Sheliah McKinzie, 38
Anna Ewing, 42
Patricia Wilson Butler, 45
Darci I. Williams, 25
Carmen Hunt, 40
Claudette Juniel, 31

During the trial proof was also given that Blair had actually called 9-1-1 to report the crime and where the body would be found. Blair of course is still claiming his innocense, even when they discovered his semen in one of the victims, his response was he had sex with her but didn’t mean he killed her. One thing is for sure, he’ll be away for a very long time.

Spelling Bee Winner Gets the Go

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

spellbee_wednesday_standalone_prod_affiliate_82.jpgWoo hoo! I felt so bad for Morgan Brown, North Platte Spelling Bee winner when I read that because of a technical error she would not be able to compete any further. The story goes something like this: Spelling Bee winner gets turned away from National Spelling Bee when her school didn’t understand the NEW spelling bee rules. They had two winners in it but only paid for one, not realizing it wasn’t just a one time for the school instead of per child.

Snow skies(without the snow)

Currently the sky is cloudy, a crisp breeze is in the air and so far there is no rain. However, KCweather reports that we do have a chance of rain, so make sure to carry an umbrella just in case.

Kansas City 54/36
Lees Summit 54/38
Independence 54/36

This has been a pretty good week so far, besides the slight wind yesterday in the later part of the afternoon. Tuesday was just beautiful though, with the sun shining through. Actually the girls and I walked on down to Sheridan’s to get something to eat. I must say it was a great treat, and day.

Looking at the rest of this week, we should have some fairly nice weather going between 50-60 outside. But once again there’ll be a chance of showers come Sunday, so for all those going on a picnic, try doing it on Saturday.

A Kansas Judge ordered a convicted sex offender this past week to post signs around all four sides of his house stating, “A Sex Offender Lives here” and had to place a bright yellow decal on his car that read, “Sex Offender in this Car.” This will continue for five years, when his probation period is up, after that he’s a free man.

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

kansascityzoo_logo.jpgThe Kansas City Zoo is just another item of the budget cut list for Kansas City. Mayor Mark Funkhouser has proposed an idea of weaning the Kansas City Zoo. Are our Zoo animals endanger of getting shipped somewhere else? Once the Mayor let it be known that they were planning on hitting the City Zoo, the public became outraged and started sending support to the zoo in various forms. So far the Mayor’s office has had numerous emails, phone call and letters.

Kansas City Weekend Events

Easter BunnyThis is for the Easter Weekend (March 21-23), so I hope ya’ll have a ton of fun and hopefully the bunny remembered that Easter came early this year. I wish I could say have a fun sunny weekend but it looks like the bunny will be sloshing around in a bit of water this holiday weekend. Stay dry and stay safe.

I do want to apologize for the lack of posts this week, as ya’ll know it is spring break and besides having all four kids at home they are all sick. To add to that one has a dual ear infection and the baby has an ear infection, so ya’ll know how this week has been. Hopefully everyone is better by Saturday.

Family Fights off Robbers

Friday, March 21st, 2008

police tapeEarly this morning in Kansas City, the Lopez Family, a father and son looked out their window when they saw two robbers trying to take their car radio. Instead of just hiding behind a closed door and calling police they decided to take things into their own hands. Woo hoo! I’m sorry, I know police would want things handled differently but people are getting sick and tired of all the crime happening around them.

Being a mom means every year I have to hunt for those Easter Egg Hunts around town, so I’ve found several and thought other moms and dads would like a list. I’ll also be doing this for the Kansas City area. If you know of any, please let me know.
