Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

The police are currently searching for this man:

Kansas City ATM Thief

Around 2:30 a.m.m Monday, a somewhat masked man tried robbing an ATM in Raytown. The bank is at 9063 Gregory Blvd, it is the US bank. As you can see,he tried hiding behind a blue face mask, however he did not cover up his nose or eyes. Hopefully this will help police in finding out who he is.

If you have any information please call your local police station.

Lees Summit

First, how can a weather channel show that todays weather is going to have a sun with light clouds and yet still be 16 degrees outside and have snow. To me, this is not a warm, sunny day. Am I the only one that sees the humor in this? Take a look at the above picture and tell me what you think. To think I thought I’d walk downtown with the kids today.

Snowing in Missouri

What happened in Kansas City this weekend? Well here’s a quick list if you didn’t pick up the paper over the weekend or the news. There were two huge events for Kansas Citians this weekend, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Kansas City was this past Sunday. Many fans of the show and of Marines tuned into the tv show on Sunday night, however there were many that attended the Legends 14 in Wyandotte County to watch the coverage. Among the guests were Danny Gilyeat and his four children (the ones that got the house), Mayor Joe Reardon, Renee Ayres the one that nominated the family, Kevin Green (builder) and many friends and family members. The Gilyeat family was not allowed to let anyone see inside their home, anyone that did come over had to promise not to say what it looked like inside. It was a very emotional show. Go MARINES!!

Kirkwood Shooting

Kirkwood Shooting

In Kirkwood, Missouri yesterday a man walked into a council meeting screaming, “Shoot the Mayer!” and stormed through the place killing many. By the time the shooting ended, he had shot and killed three council members, two police officers, wounded the Mayor and was shot to death by police. Why did alarms not go off when this man entered City Hall with a weapon? I’m sure by now many are asking this very question and if they didn’t have one I’m sure they’ll be getting one in the near future.

Charles Lee Thornton had left a suicide note on his bed, “The Truth Will Come Out in the End.” No clue yet on exactly what the truth was. However, the police are stating that just last month he had lost a freespeech lawsuit against the small town only days before this shooting. Anger filled as he kept getting tickets towards his business, 150 in all, he went crazy, grabbed his gun and jotted a note before headed down to city hall to have a shootout.

Charles had been ticketed several times for parking his company vehicle in the neighborhood, he believed that this was only because he was the only black contractor in the area. Many are left with anger and unanswered questions, his brother only states, “”Understand that this was an act of war by my brother. He had an actual person, or people, that he was in battle with. That this was not a random rampage.”

Amber Alert:

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Seth Guerrero

This morning there is a Kansas City Amber Alert for a three year old little boy after his mother and baby sister were found shot to death inside their home. The little girl was only a year old and not Andrew’s biological child. As of right now they believe 3 year old, Seth Guerrero, is with his father, Andrew Anthony Guerrero, and has already been spotted in Texas. If you see this little boy or his father please call your local sherrif’s office. Do NOT approach him as he is to be believed as armed and dangerous. Police believe they are headed to Mexico.

UPDATE: As I was writing this up I looked again to find if there were any distinguishing marks on the little boy. Good news! The little boy was found safe in Texas. It appears that Andrew ended up in jail down in Denton, Tx and picked up little Seth at a Motel 6. That poor little man, I sure hope he didn’t watch the murder of his mother.

President Visits Kansas City

Friday, February 1st, 2008

President Bush in Kansas City

If you plan on driving through Kansas City this morning, you may want to change your route, or leave a bit earlier. The president, George Bush, will be visiting many places throughout the day. He presented President’s Volunteer Service Award to Samuel Turner Sr., for his work on the American Heart Association.

Bad areas to be today: In the morning he’ll be signing a proclamation for American Heart Month and that’ll be around 8:30 a.m., a tour around 10:20 at Hallmark Cards Center, followed by a brief statement on the economy at 10:55 a.m. and around lunch he’ll be at a private residence to raise money for U.S. Rep. Sam Graves.

Find a different route if you don’t want to be late to work: Avoid Country Club Plaza and Crown Center and this afternoon expect delays around downtown and the Northland.
